Why Do We Still Cover Campaigns This Way?

2020 has changed the way we interact with each other, but the way presidential campaigns are covered still gives too much control to the candidates.

Yet even then, healthcare was one of the issues most voters spoke to us about.⁣ (3/3) A dead campaign is never truly dead unless those who drew inspiration from their candidates give up on thier ideas. Keep fighting for what brought you out to begin with. The struggle doesn't end on election day.⁣ (2/3) Among those doomed campaigns is one in particular that always said it was never about the person running, but the movement behind him. In essence, #NotMeUs means there's no reason a good idea can't be had by more than one person at a time or carried forward without the candidate himself.⁣ (1/3) With Tulsi Gabbard now out of the race, and the rest of the country on lockdown, we can look back on the last two months and say that we spent most of that time chasing doomed presidential campaigns! So as we sit in quarantine and brood over what it was all for, there's some comfort in knowing that the also-ran names might be forgotten, but the people who supported them for their best ideas — like healthcare for all —will carry those ideas forward and demand they be heard.⁣ (3/3) "We live in a system where the president can't make it great and he can't mess it up all by himself...⁣ (2/3) "If you want to find any truth you follow the money that's always the reality and the money is flowing from Super PACs and these politicians are getting re-elected. If I'm a politician and I want to get re-elected I need, at some point, to consider where my donations are coming from.⁣ (1/3) Adrian was among the 17,000 people who gathered to hear Bernie speak in Los Angeles where he told us that what he sees today is a lot of division.⁣
